From source to cards.
One clear fact per card. Short questions you can actually answer — not essay prompts.
In 1885, Hermann Ebbinghaus mapped the forgetting curve: newly learned material decays roughly exponentially, while each well-timed review flattens the curve and extends retention.
Photosynthesis converts carbon dioxide and water into glucose using energy from sunlight, releasing oxygen as a byproduct. In plant cells, it takes place in the chloroplasts.
The Treaty of Versailles, signed in 1919, ended the First World War: Germany accepted responsibility under the war-guilt clause, ceded territory, and owed reparations that destabilized the Weimar Republic.
Beta-blockers such as propranolol antagonize β-adrenergic receptors, lowering heart rate and myocardial oxygen demand. They are first-line for angina and used cautiously in asthma, where β2 blockade can trigger bronchospasm.
How it works.
Add your material
Upload a PDF — slides, a chapter, a paper — or save any web article to your library with the Reader.
Review the drafts
Cards stream in as they're written. Accept or reject each one.
Study on schedule
Repple schedules the reviews with spaced repetition, so what you learn actually sticks.
How the cards are written.
Big, vague questions don't stick. Repple splits ideas into small, specific cards — following our card-writing guide.
Works with what you already have.
Lecture slides
Upload the deck as a PDF and turn a whole lecture into reviewable cards.
Papers & textbooks
Chapters, readings, journal articles — diagrams and formulas included, no copy-pasting.
Web articles
Read and highlight in the Reader, then generate cards from what you saved.
Chrome extension
Save any page to your library in one click with Repple Keep.
Then it schedules the reviews.
A deck you never review is just a prettier copy of your notes. Every card you keep is scheduled with spaced repetition, so reviews come back right before you'd forget.
FAQ
Is the AI flashcard generator free?
Yes. Every account includes a monthly generation allowance, plus unlimited hand-written cards. Pro raises the limits and PDF page caps.
What can I generate flashcards from?
PDF, TXT, and Markdown files up to 50 MB, plus any web article you save with the Reader or the Repple Keep Chrome extension.
Do I control what ends up in my deck?
Yes. Generated cards arrive in a review queue. Accept or reject each one, or accept everything at once. Cards stay fully editable afterwards.
Does it make cloze deletion cards?
Yes. Repple generates both question-and-answer and cloze cards, and renders math notation properly.
How is this different from asking ChatGPT?
A chat gives you text you still have to copy somewhere. Repple drafts cards that follow spaced-repetition best practice, saves them into decks, and schedules the reviews for you. The generator and the study app are one tool.
Can I bring my existing Anki decks?
Yes. Import .apkg files with their scheduling history intact. Generated cards live alongside everything you import.
